A pilot scheme on new urban authority model for HCM City

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Secretary of Ho Chi Minh Municipal Party Committee Le Thanh Hai co-chaired a conference on February 17, approving a pilot scheme on new urban authority model in the city.

The scheme includes 6 parts, focusing on the restructuring of the administrative management at all levels, regulations on Party organization, the Fatherland Front, political and social organizations in urban administration and human resource development for the plan’s implementation.


Deputy Prime Minister Phuc under the need to create favorable conditions for HCM City to fully utilize its potential as the city was the economic, cultural and social center of Vietnam.

The pilot scheme is expected to be presented to the Politburo on March 13th before being submitted to the National Assembly (NA).

At the meeting, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan spoke of the achievements reaped by the city in its socio-economic and cultural development in recent time.

He said it is essential to research and build appropriate urban authority models to meet demand for further development, thus improving administrative reform in the country.
