Over the past 18 years, the British Business Group Vietnam (BBGV) has raised about VND10 billion (US$430,000) for the charitable activities in Vietnam and attracted thousands of people.
About 7,000 people are expected to attend the 4th Charity Fun Run held by the BBGV at British Uninversity Vietnam's Ecopark Campus on the outskirts of Hanoi on November 4.
Speaking at the press conference on October 18, BBGV Vice President Christopher Jeffery said that BBGV Charity Fun Run is the group's largest annual charity event in Vietnam.
The event aims to encourage the spirit of sport and especially raise fund to support charity projects in Vietnam in different aspects such as education, healthcare, disaster prevention, etc. in the hope of improving life quality of the needy people across Vietnam, Jeffery stressed.
He noted that BBGV Charity Fun Run in 2017, the third edition in Hanoi, was a great success with 6,000 participants and VND600 million (US$ 25,800) raised and donated to a wide range of Vietnam’s charity organizations.
Over the past 18 years, the event has been held in the two largest cities of Vietnam - Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. More than 100,000 people have attended and raised more than VND10 billion (US$430,000) for charitable activities in Vietnam, Jeffery added.
A representative of the organizing committee emphasized: “The proceeds from the BBGV Charity Fun Run after deducting all organizational expenses were donated to the BBGV Charity Fund and disbursed under the BBGV Charity Policy.”
The representative added that for these meaningful objectives, the event was honored to have the British ambassador to Vietnam’s presence and his support as a runner on the event days.
The BBGV Charity Fun Run 2018 is promised to be more exciting and enjoyable with numerous activities such as:
(1) Run/walk: 5km long route around Ecopark area.
(2) Entertainment: a flash mob dance together with 7,000 runners, special performance by Da LAB band. The stage will be placed on the water feature in the middle of BUV new campus, so that the participants can enjoy a live music performance throughout the event.
(3) Fun market stalls: there will be plenty of choices for food and drinks, goods/handicrafts for sale and other activities at our sponsors’ booths.
