Agricultural exports up 11.2% in 2014

The exports of the agriculture sector are estimated to reach US$30.8 billion in 2014, up 11.2% compared to the previous year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

The sector may run a trade surplus of US$9.5 billion, up 7.7%. Viet Nam can earn US$7.92 billion from exporting aquatic products at the end of this year, up 18.4%. The US remains the largest seafood importer of Viet Nam, accounting for 21.81% of the total.

To achieve the goal of gaining US$31 billion from the farm-forestry-aquatic exports in 2015, the MARD will actively establish programs to launch signed bilateral and multi-lateral conventions and agreements. In addition, Viet Nam will take part in negotiating Free Trade Agreements, strengthen market development activities, and update information about commercial policies in other countries.
