Agro - forestry - fishery export hits over US$3 billion in March
Vietnam`s agro - forestry - fishery export turnover in March accounted for US$3.1 billion, taking the total export turnover in the first 3 months to US$8.7 billion, up 9.6% year on year, according to the Ministry of Agricultural & Rural Development.
Rice export in March is estimated at 524,000 tons worth US$261 million, for which the total rice export volume in March reached 1.36 million tons for US$669 million, increasing 9.4% in quantity and 24% in value compared to the same period of last year.
190,000 tons of coffee were exported in March for US$367 million, taking the total export volume of coffee in the first 3 months to 520,000 tons for US$1 billion, up 15.1% in quantity but down 1.7% in value year on year.
Rubber export in March reached 86,000 tons with US$130 million, for which the total rubber export volume in the first 3 moths to 272,000 tons with US$403 million, increasing 8.9% in quantity and down 20.9% in value comparing to the same period of last year.
Tea export volume in March reached 9,000 tons with US$13 million, leading to the total export volume in the first 3 months 25,000 tons for US$39 million, down 9.7% in quantity and 4.1% in value year on year.
26,000 tons of cashew were exported in March for US$265 million, resulting in 73,000 tons of cashew exported in the first 3 months at US$739 million, increasing 30.9% in quantity and 43.6% in value compared to the same period of last year.
Peppercorn export volume in March was 24,000 tons for US$88 million, taking the total export volume of peppercorn in the first 3 months at 54,000 tons for US$203 million, up 5.5% in quantity but down 37.3% in value over the last period.
Wood products export in March reached US$661 million, for which the total export volume in the first 3 months is estimated at US$1.87 billion, up 5.8% year on year. The US, China, Japan and Korea are the 4 largest wood import market of Vietnam in the first 2 months of 2018, accounting for 77.6% of Vietnam's wood export turnover.
Fishery export in March is recorded at US$604 million, totaling US$1.7 billion of export volume in the first 3 months, up 11.5% year on year. The US, Japan, China and Korea continue to be the 4 largest fishery import market of Vietnam in the first 2 months of 2018, accounting for 50.5% of total fishery export turnover.
