The Costa Rica media announced that the HanesBrands Inc. of the US is going to close the Cartex Manufactura in coming November, its branch at this Central America`s country and move to Vietnam, aiming at reaching a maximum business efficiency.
Talking on The El financiero web page of Costa Rica, Mr. Mauricio Brenes, who is in charge of business activities of Cartex Manufactura said that the decision to close the branch aimed at decreasing the production cost by some suppliers of materials based in China, near Vietnam.
Cartex Manufactura has been in operation for four decades in Costa Rica with the factories tailoring male underwears.The closing of this branch will cause over 1,250 workers to lose their jobs.
In the recent 5 years, nearly 10,000 Costa Rica's labourers have lost their jobs because several garment businesses left this country to the markets with higher competitive power.
HanesBrands Inc.has been one of garment companies with a global scale employing over 50,000 workers worldwide.This business's main products are underwears, shocks and sport-wears.
In Vietnam, HanesBrands Inc. built its factories in Hung Yen and Thua Thien-Hue.In the recent 5 years, nearly 10,000 Costa Rica's labourers have lost their jobs because several garment businesses left this country to the markets with higher competitive power.
