Another fishing boat damaged by Chinese ship

A Chinese steel ship recently rammed into a fishing boat of Haiphong city, causing serious property damage worth hundreds of millions of Vietnam Dong.

Nguyen Duc Quang, a local fisherman, said the Chinese ship 45024 on June 6 collided with and fired water cannons at his vessel HP 90258TS while it was fishing in Vietnam’s Bac Bo (Tonkin) Gulf, 30 miles off Quang Ninh province’s Co To island.

The China Guard Type ship chased after the Vietnamese fishing boat for over two hours. Finally, Quang’s boat escaped the chase and reported the incident to border guards garrisoned on Co To island.

Quang said the attrack caused an estimated loss of between VND300-500 million.

Earlier on May 26, a Chinese ship intentionally attacked a fishing boat of Danang fishermen, causing it to sink.  A video footage shows after sinking the vessel, the Chinese ship left Vietnamese fishermen in distress.
