The event has consistently played an importance role for the ASEAN business community and is an annual activity at the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN BAC). In 2020, under the presidency of Vietnam, the role of ABA 2020 is even more pivotal as ASEAN businesses are required to unite and share, not only to overcome difficulties but also take advantage of an opportunity to develop post-pandemic, while continuing to contribute to ASEAN’s economic growth and prosperity.

Earlier, at a dialogue session between the ASEAN BAC and leaders of member states in the framework of the 36th ASEAN Summit, Madame Nguyen Thi Nga – Member of ASEAN BAC Vietnam and Chair of ABA 2020 – reported to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and ASEAN leaders that ABA 2020 will honor businesses in the bloc that have made outstanding contributions to the prevention of the ongoing pandemic, and have overcome its negative impacts on socioeconomic life in the region.

ABA 2020 is now receiving registrations at www.aba2020.vn until the registration period for the whole region ends on September 30. At that point, the valid records will be synthesized and selected in the judging round and evaluated in order to select the winning business in each category. This will be carried out in October by the Judging Council, which includes a group of 10 experts, study authors, and leading economists representing ASEAN member states.

The ABA 2020 ceremony is scheduled to be held in November in Hanoi, within the framework of the 2020 ASEAN Business & Investment Summit. This will be held adjacent to the 37th ASEAN Summit, with participation of government leaders from Vietnam and other countries in the region.
