ASEAN-New Zealand young entrepreneurs meeting to open in central Vietnam

The summit is one of several events marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and New Zealand.

THE HANOI TIMES — Business leaders from New Zealand and Southeast Asia will gather in Danang and Hue from July 23 to 27 for the ASEAN Young Business Leaders Initiative Summit.

This event brings together young business leaders from various industries, including agribusiness, technology, tourism, fashion, health, and food and beverages for connectivity and partnership.

The event aims to foster lasting connections between New Zealand and ASEAN entrepreneurs. It also coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between New Zealand and ASEAN and Vietnam and the 30th anniversary of the Asia New Zealand Foundation.

Caroline Beresford, New Zealand's ambassador to Vietnam, said that strengthening these ties goes beyond diplomacy, but empowers young leaders, builds partnerships, and creates mutually beneficial opportunities for ASEAN and New Zealand.

"Vietnam is an important partner in the region, and strengthening relationships, trade, and economic ties here benefits both sides," said Suzannah Jessep, the Asia New Zealand Foundation's Chief Executive.

Established in 1994, the Asia New Zealand Foundation (Te Whītau Tūhono) is New Zealand’s leading organization for Asia-related insights and experiences. It supports New Zealanders in succeeding in Asia by offering research, connections, and learning opportunities across over 20 countries.

The foundation's eight core programs cover a wide range of subjects, including arts, business, entrepreneurship, leadership, media, research, Track II diplomacy, and sports.

The ASEAN Young Business Leaders Initiative is a key part of the New Zealand government’s ASEAN strategy to facilitate trade and build connections between business leaders and entrepreneurs in New Zealand and Southeast Asia.
