Attending the awarding ceremony was President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFF) Nguyen Thien Nhan.
The “Initiatives for the Community 2015” contest is a good opportunity for collectives and individuals to introduce projects and initiatives that support the community, alleviate poverty and promote the national industrialization and modernization. The contest also aims to educate the young on patriotism and responsibility towards the homeland.
The contest was launched in June 2015 and received 177 entries sent by individuals and organisations nationwide.
The submitted initiatives were created in various fields such as education, health care, transport, science-technology, tourism, environmental protection, agriculture and voluntary activities.
Speaking at the event, VFF President Nguyen Thien Nhan said that the contest is not only to honour scientists, scientific and technological achievements, but also help arousing the creative and labouring passion of all People, especially the younger generation, contributing to the national development.
Held for the first time, the contest was paid attention by numerous individuals and groups in various fields across the country.
At the ceremony, the organising board awarded to 11 initiatives, namely: the first prize went to a patient aiding programme initiated by the Vietnam Young Physicians’ Association.
In addition, two second prizes, three third prizes and five consolation prizes were also presented to the initiatives.
On the occasion, the exhibition with 20 stalls, displayed the outstanding scientific and technological products of Hanoi-based Vietnam National University and the awarded initiatives was organised.
