Over 5,000 local and foreign runners will race in the Da Nang Barefoot Run 2015-16 across central city`s pristine white My Khe Beach on December 6.
The event's organising committee confirmed to the English-language daily Vietnam News on November 18 that the event would prelude the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race that Da Nang hosts as a home port of the Da Nang-Vietnam team from February 17-21, and the Asian Beach Games next September.
It's the first time that the city has hosted a sports-entertainment event to promote tourism and its beautiful beaches.
Competitors will race barefoot along 10km, 5km and 2km stretches.
The city will also host a ‘Clean-up the beach' and a musical performance at the East Sea Park a day before the races. The central city has become a popular for the annual International Marathon Race and the Ironman Race.
