Vietnam tops list of ASEAN destinations for South Korean tourists
Tourism cooperation between ASEAN and South Korea has made significant strides, reflected in the growing flow of tourist exchanges.
THE HANOI TIMES — The number of South Korean tourists visiting Vietnam in 2024 accounted for 46% of all Korean arrivals in ASEAN, said Ho An Phong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Speaking at the ASEAN-Korea Roundtable on Tourism from July 2 to 4 in Danang, Phong said ASEAN countries welcomed nearly 127 million international tourists in 2024, including 10 million coming from South Korea, making it one of the top three source markets for ASEAN countries.
He added that 4.6 million Korean tourists arrived in Vietnam in the same year.

"This is a testament to the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and South Korea, reflecting the growing trust, affection, and deepening ties between our two peoples," said Phong.
He noted that the development of high-quality and diverse tourism products and services is key to ASEAN-South Korea tourism cooperation.
Danang remained the most popular destination for South Korean tourists in 2024.
According to the Danang Department of Tourism, the city welcomed 4.1 million foreign arrivals in 2024, including two-fifths coming from South Korea.
Data from the trip.com tourism website showed that Danang attracts Korean tourists with its beautiful beaches, well-designed cityscape and direct flights to and from Korean cities.
Tran Anh Tuan, Deputy Chairman of the Danang People’s Committee, said the city aims to become a high-quality tourism and service hub as well as a creative destination in Vietnam and Southeast Asia by 2030. The city aims to become one of the leading tourism centers in the world by 2045.
