Brunei ambassador Pengiran Haji Sahari bin Pengiran Haji Salleh has come to greet Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, marking the start of his working term in Vietnam.
At an April 24 reception, PM Dung expressed his pleasure at the positive developments in Vietnam-Brunei relations and believed that the Brunei diplomat, during his tenure, will closely cooperate with relevant agencies to strengthen friendly relations and cooperation between the two nations for mutual benefit, thus making positive contributions to the process of building a united and strong ASEAN community by 2015.
Dung suggested soon organizing the first session of the Vietnam-Brunei Joint Committee to take practical measures aimed at utilizing the potential for broader cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, fishery, labour and tourism.

The Government leader affirmed Vietnam’s willingness to cooperate with Brunei, Malaysia and Singapore to accelerate the early conclusion of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) negotiations.
Regarding the importance of maintaining peace, stability, freedom, security, maritime and aviation safety in the East Sea Dung asked Brunei along with countries concerned continue to stand firm with ASEAN’s common stance mentioned in its Six-Point Principle on the East Sea, settlement of disputes by peaceful means in compliance with international law, particularly the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), full implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and the formulation a Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) .
Brunei ambassador Haji Salleh, in turn, reiterated his resolve to deepen the fine relationship and all-around cooperation between Brunei and Vietnam in order to bring practical benefits to both countries.
