Bucida molinetii greening Hanoi's corners

The poetic beauty created by the young leaves of the Bucida molinetii tree provides green and romantic moments for Hanoians.

As spring turns to summer, many of Hanoi's streets have turned green as tens of thousands of Bucida molinetii have shed their leaves.

The trees become increasingly popular in Hanoi because of their straight shape, beautiful foliage.

Rows of Bucida molinetii at the intersection of Thanh Tri Bridge and National Highway 5 are in the growing season.

The trees are planted on a stretch of road leading to the junction of National Highway 5 and National Highway 1A, a key point at the eastern gateway to the capital.

The small-leaved trees were planted on Hanoi's roads a few years ago. At present, more and more Bucida molinetii are being planted along Ring Road 2.

Their straight shape also helps to limit tree breakage during storms, reducing maintenance and pruning costs.

The small green-leafed trees both cool the room and filter out harmful gases and return fresh air.
