Hanoi Glows on a night of Party Congress celebration
Hanoi took center stage on Friday night as a large-scale cultural program marked the conclusion of Vietnam’s 14th Communist Party Congress.
THE HANOI TIMES — Vietnam marked the conclusion of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party with a large-scale artistic program and fireworks display at My Dinh National Stadium on January 23, drawing tens of thousands of participants and senior political leaders.
Titled “Under the Glorious Flag of the Communist Party”, the 100-minute program coincided with celebrations for the Communist Party’s 96th founding anniversary on Febuary 3. The event was organized by the Hanoi Party Committee and municipal authorities in coordination with the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department and Vietnam Television.
General Secretary To Lam attended alongside former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, and other current and former leaders of the Party and state. The program opened with a flag-raising ceremony, followed by remarks from Hanoi Party Secretary Nguyen Duy Ngoc.

Organizers deployed a 3,000-square-meter LED screen, layered mobile displays, 3D projection mapping and synchronized sound and lighting to anchor the performances.
The program unfolded in three chapters. The first, “Epic Under The Party Flag”, traced Vietnam’s revolutionary history and the country’s path to independence and reunification.
The second, “With the Party, Complete Trust and Love”, focused on the reform era and economic development, depicting daily life and labor across sectors.
The final chapter- “Under the Glorious Flag of the Communist Party” looked ahead, emphasizing national unity and the implementation of resolutions adopted at the 14th Congress.
The stage setting depicts August 19, 1945, a pivotal moment in Vietnamese history during the Vietnamese Revolution.
A scene recreates the 1954 Dien Bien Phu campaign, a decisive moment in Vietnam’s modern history.
Fireworks are launched at intervals throughout the program and culminated in a large-scale display above the stadium, closing the event.
The visual spectacle underscored the political messaging of continuity, stability and development promoted throughout the evening.
As the program ended, spectators remained in the stands to take photographs, marking an event that blended political commemoration with mass cultural performance at one of the capital’s largest venues.
