Christmas season 2021: Hanoians prefer real trees

Instead of displaying large plastic pine trees on the Christmas holiday this year, Hanoians tend to buy smaller real ones to adorn their homes.

Half a month before Christmas Eve, Hanoians are busy buying Christmas trees and accessories for home decoration.

The Christmas decoration trend of this year is real pine trees that were imported from Europe and others cheaper mini ones from Da Lat.
The imported pine trees from Europe are a little bit expensive, ranging from VND2 million (US$87) to VND20 million ($867) per tree. These luxurious decorative stuffs, however, are selling like hot cakes.
There many kinds of European imported fresh pines and Da Lat ones are on display for sale at a bonsai shop on Nguyen Van Tuyet Street (Dong Da District, Hanoi).
According to a seller, the tree has many sizes for customers to choose from. “A beautiful 60cm high pine costs VND195,000 ($8.5). The other with a height of 80cm costs VND395,000 ($17). Meanwhile, a 1.5m tall one can be sold for VND795,000 ($35) excluding decorative accessories,” he said.
This year, customers are prefer buying online rather than in person, according to sellers. Besides, purchasing power also increased by about 50% compared to the same period in 2020.
Long Nguyen, a customer in Hanoi, said that he had already bought a natural pine tree for even cheaper price than a plastic one. “Besides, I can still plant it to beautify our apartment’s balcony after Christmas,” he stated.
After being selected by customers, the pine trees will be delivered by the sellers. If clients do not want to decorate the Christmas trees by themselves, they can choose to spend some more VND300,000 ($13) to get a brilliantly decorated one.
