Vietnam State President Nguyen Phu Trong’s old high school has set the target to become a high-quality school of regional and international standards by 2040.

Nguyen Gia Thieu High School in Long Bien district, Hanoi, one of the educational institutions with a long history is where General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and State President Nguyen Phu Trong spent his years.


Founded in 1950, over the past 70 years, Nguyen Gia Thieu High School has been awarded the Third Class Independence Medal by the State five times for its outstanding achievements in teaching and learning.


General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong was a student of Nguyen Gia Thieu school from 1957 to 1963. For him, this is a dear school that is full of imprints and leaves many unforgettable memories.


2020 marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Nguyen Gia Thieu High School, a bright spot of Hanoi city’s education sector. The school has set the target to become a high-quality school of national standards by 2030 and of regional and international standards by 2040.

 For the past 70 years, many students of Nguyen Gia Thieu School enthusiastically volunteered to enlist in the army and fight in the South or join the youth volunteering campaigns, build farms, and roads. Many later became scientists, managers, professors, doctors, engineers, among others. They all have contributed to building a civilized and heroic capital city.


 Nguyen Gia Thieu School has continuously been recognized for many years as “Advanced School of Excellence”, “The leading unit in the emulation movement” and received numerous awards, medals, and high honor titles. 


 Being one of the high-quality key education centers in Hanoi, the school has made many contributions to the renewal of curriculum, high school textbooks and teaching method innovation.


 The quality of teaching and learning in the school is being improved day by day. An array of teachers have won high prizes in Hanoi Excellent Teacher contests.


 The school’s excellent grade 12 students are always in the top of the bloc of publc schools in Hanoi city and they have won national excellent student awards.


 Comprehensive educational activities are also performed well and effectively, affirming Nguyen Gia Thieu High School’s position in the education sector in the capital city and the country.


 In 2020, Nguyen Gia Thieu High School is awarded the Third Class Independence Medal by the State, this is the 5th time the school has been honored the noble award.


 When attending the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Nguyen Gia Thieu High School on November 14, General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong expressed his belief that the school will keep constantly making progress and meeting higher requirements to deserve its tradition.


 On the occasion, General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong presented 70 scholarships to the school’s excellent students and wished all teachers and students good health, happiness and more success in the time ahead.
