CNN recommends Hanoi as one of world’s best places for coffee

While flat white or Americano is not popular in Hanoi, locals and foreigners are charmed with the thick black and slow-brewed coffee, iced coffee with condensed milk and coconut coffee.

CNN, the US Cable News Network, has recently listed Hanoi as one of the ten destinations to taste the best coffee in the world.

Coffee has been so popular in the country that it is described as “deep in the DNA of Vietnam” by CNN. Vietnam is also one of the biggest coffee bean producers internationally.
“When Vietnam was a colony of France, the French established coffee plantations across the country in the late 19th century, and, if you're in the capital, Hanoi, you don't have to go far for a fantastic cup,” CNN wrote.
While flat white or Americano is not popular in Hanoi, locals and foreigners are charmed with the thick black and slow-brewed coffee or black coffee in other words, iced coffee with condensed milk and coconut coffee with the creative recipe of frozen coconut milk mixed with rich black coffee topped with shaved coconut ice).
In fact, ca phe trung or egg coffee has been the specialty of the city as it was chosen to serve reporters at the international media center during the second US-North Korea summit in Hanoi late in February. The most well-known café shop in Hanoi to taste this typical egg coffee is Café Giang on Nguyen Huu Huan street, Hoan Kiem district.
Some locations that CNN recommends its viewers for a coffee hanging in Hanoi including Café Dinh at 13 Dinh Tien Hoang, Hoan Kiem district; Cafe Duy Tri (operating since 1936) at 43 Yen Phu Street in Tay Ho District; and Xofa Cafe & Bistro for a coconut coffee at Tong Duy Tan street, Hoan Kiem district.
Besides Hanoi (Vietnam), CNN also mentioned other destinations for the best coffee in the world namely Wellington (New Zealand), Melbourne (Australia), London (UK), Iceland, among others.
