Fifty leaders from SOS villages and headmasters of Hermann Gmeiner schools shared experiences in caring disadvantaged children at a July 23 conference in Nha Trang City, central Khanh Hoa province.
Currently, 17 SOS nationwide villages care for more than 4,700 children. SOS primary schools, Hermann Gmeiner schools and vocational workshops provide vocational training for 13,300 pupils.
Additionally, as many as 1,900 children are receiving support from community-based activities.
As a result, thousands of disadvantaged children to have a chance to go to school and find stable jobs, securing their future.

Hermann Gmeiner scholarships valued at over VND23 billion have been granted to more than 9,000 pupils and students.

Regarding a future model for SOS Villages, Tran Thi Kim Dung, SOS Vietnam Vice Director said it is essential to create a natural life for children in addition to improving the efficency of spending, reducing international subsidies by lowering administrative costs, increasing local fundraising activitie so as to ensure the Government's contributions to SOS village programs.
