Controlling air pollution in road tunnel

Transportation in road tunnel plays an important role in major cities and ensuring smooth connection between provinces. However, controlling air pollution in Vietnam has been limited to semi-automatic or manual.

This may potentially cause air pollution in certain region, and affecting the health of people participating in traffic. As such, Internet of things (IEMT) is an efficient solution to automatically solve this situation mentioned above.

Traffic in road tunnel is one of the main reasons causing environmental pollution, especially air pollution and affecting the people’s health. As such, Tri Nam Technology Investment JSC has researched and developed solution for road tunnel IEMT. Specifically, this solution will apply artificial intelligence in monitoring, analyzing and dealing with air pollution in road tunnel such as: controlling ventilator automatically, warning of toxic gas and air pollution in road tunnel, smart controlling traffic.

Inventor of IEMT solution Nguyen Son Trung said, “Vietnamese investors are often in favor of foreign solutions. Therefore, we need to convince them about the efficiency of Vietnamese products, with an aim to be applied commonly in Vietnam”. General Director of Tri Nam Technology Investment JSC Nguyen Manh Truong said:” Road tunnel operator often manage traffic based on fixed scenarios, when ventilators are turned on in peak hours. However, after a certain period of time, the system will consume large amount of energy with high cost, so they have to stop using the system. In some case, ventilators also have technical issues. Therefore, it is important to have these ventilators checked. In Vietnam, some foreign solutions are used but with high cost”.

In order to develop a complete and consistent system, IEMT has faced numerous difficulties. According to Truong, the biggest challenge is to reduce the product price but still maintain the efficiency of the product. “We have strategy to convince investors, such as to compare the two products and the efficiency among them”.

With regard to the duplication of this model, Nguyen Manh Truong said, there are two functions in this solutions: monitoring and warning, dealing with situations. At present, monitoring is being applied in various aspects, such as at checkpoints, fire or smoke warning. In the future, when Vietnam implement the underground traffic, this will be the market Tri Nam aiming to and have preparation started already.

At present, IEMT is aimed at niche market, which can be seen as a smart move for start-ups. Being the pioneer, this product is expected to bring practical benefits for society.
