The draft of the six criteria to build a `city worth living in’ has been discussed in many departments in Danang.
The Propaganda Department of the Danang Party Committee invited leaders from many departments of the city to comment on the draft criteria to transform Danang into a ‘city worth living in’ at the meeting on February 27.
In the Propaganda Department’s draft, the criteria consist of 6 groups on human development, management, infrastructure, economic environment, living environment, and cultural and social life.
The six groups are divided into 28 specific categories, such as stable housing, high-income employment, poverty reduction, and social inequality. In addition, there are GDP per capita, food hygiene and safety, administrative reform, tourist satisfaction for services, and other highly-relevant categories.
The Propaganda Department said that when compiling this draft, they have been studying international experience and considered the results of a social survey in Danang.
To Van Hung, Head of the City Council of the Danang People's Council, said that the city needs to develop a set of publicly-odered criteria. On the basis of these criteria, each sector should define its own initiatives.
This should be an open set of criteria that is oriented to serve local people first and then tourists, Hung said.
A city worth living in
Achieving the title of the 'city worth living in’ is Danang leaders’ aspiration and the people’s expectation. The participants at the meeting admitted that Danang is encountering many issues, such as people’s behavioral culture, the rate of urban greenery, medical conditions, criminal rates, and social evils.
Dang Viet Dung, Head of the Propaganda Department of the Danang Party Committee, said that the 'city worth living in' title conveys a clear picture of clean air and a beautiful and friendly city. "The 6 groups of criteria mentioned in the draft need to be improved in line with international standards," he said.
"When the Party Committee reaches a consensus on the policy, we will consult all people to set benchmark criteria," Dung added.
39 years after Vietnam Liberation Day, Danang has developed significantly in all aspects. More importantly, the city has a remarkable impression on tourists and residents alike as the city in Vietnam most worth living in.
The central city of Danang is the only Vietnamese city listed among the Top 10 worth-living cities in the world in 2018 by Live and Invest Overseas, a Panamanian travel magazine.
The magazine describes Danang as one of the most famous destinations in Vietnam, saying the city welcomed more than 10 million foreign visitors in 2016.
From Danang, it is easy to get to nearby world cultural heritage sites, such as the ancient citadel of Hue, the Old Quarter of Hoi An, and My Son Sanctuary.
Danang is attractive to people in neighboring provinces, especially those from the younger generations. It is worth noting that educated people with a good command of English could find it easy to find a job in the retail and travel industry in Danang.
Danang is a coastal city with a coastline longer than 60 kilometers. With its white sandy beaches sloping gently to the sea, Danang has been voted by Forbes as one of the six most luxurious beaches in the world.
Swimming in the clear water, playing in the blue waves and sunbathing on the white sandy beaches are a treat to those looking to relax after hard work. In addition, there are a plethora of beach sports and activities like canoeing, surfing, kayaking, water skiing, motor skiing, and scuba diving available.
Not only being famous for its beautiful beaches, Danang is also attractive thanks to its proximity to the mighty Truong Son Range, and its magnificent Son Tra Peninsula.
Moreover, Danang’s special pride is Hai Van Pass, with its excellent ocean view and winding, scenic roads. Since the opening of Hai Van Pass tunnel, the longest tunnel of Vietnam, interstate traffic has become much easier and safer and the pass has become a favored destination for those who enjoy nature and look for adventure and challenge.
Ba Na Hills, discovered and built in the French Colonial time, is also a great attraction with its cable car system holding two world records and the largest indoor entertaining center, Fantasy Park.
Not only gifted by Mother Nature with beautiful landscape, Danang is also worth living because of its purity and peace. Being continuously among the nation’s fastest growing cities, Danang maintained its excellent safety and order with free-flowing traffic.
