“Dance of Ban Me”
Beyond a cultural exhibition, the event sought to preserve and celebrate the cultural heritage of the Central Highlands’ ethnic communities, especially their unique brocade attire.
The “Dance of Ban Me” traditional brocade fashion and art program, held in Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak Province, left an impression on both locals and visitors.
The event, held on October 19, marked the 120th anniversary of the establishment of Dak Lak Province and Buon Ma Thuot City’s 120 years of growth.
Organized by the Buon Ma Thuot People’s Committee in partnership with Viet Mode Co., Ltd., the program was designed to preserve and promote traditional brocade among Dak Lak’s ethnic minorities.
Taking place beneath the ancient Cinnamomum camphora on the grounds of the Bao Dai Palace, the event offered a mystical and vibrant setting.
The performances showcased brocade costumes and revived traditional crafts such as weaving, wood carving, pottery, and basket weaving.
More than a cultural showcase, the event aimed to preserve and honor the cultural heritage of the Central Highlands’ ethnic communities, particularly their distinctive brocade garments.
The program featured captivating art performances, blending music, dance, and fashion.
At the show, famous designers presented collections of Ao dai and brocade pieces infused with the rich cultural colors of ethnic groups like the Ede, Bana, and Jarai.
The audience enjoyed live demonstrations of traditional crafts, adding to the immersive cultural experience.
Set against a majestic natural backdrop and vibrant artistic atmosphere, “Dance of Ban Me” symbolized cultural pride, promoted unity, boosted tourism, and drew visitors to Buon Ma Thuot City and Dak Lak Province.
