Deputy PM’s activities on sidelines of WEF

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh held bilateral meetings with Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, US Trade Representative (USTR) Micheal Froman and Thai Deputy PM Pridiyathorn Devacula on January 22 on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF Davos 2015).

At a meeting with Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, the two sides affirmed that bilateral relations are developing strongly, and agreed to further boost cooperation, especially in climate change adaptation and sustainable agricultural development in the coming time.

Queen Máxima invited Vietnam to join the Group of Friends of Financial Inclusion whose members are ambassadors at the UN and stressed that Vietnam is one of 25 countries chosen to take part in the inclusive finance programme.

She hoped to visit Vietnam in 2016 as the UN Secretary-General's Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development (UNSGSA) that she has assumed since 2009.
 

Deputy PM Minh meets USTR Froman


At a meeting with USTR Froman, the two sides spoke highly of the strong development of Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership in recent times and agreed to strictly coordinate in activities to mark the 20th anniversary of diplomatic ties to lift it into a new height.

Deputy PM Minh urged the US to continue granting Vietnam necessary flexibility in order to soon conclude negotiations on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Agreement.

Froman appreciated Vietnam’s effort, saying that the recent round of negotiations had achieved significant progress and hoping that all parties will soon find solutions for the conclusion of the TPP negotiations.
 

Deputy PM Minh meets Thai Deputy PM Pridyathorn Devacula


At a meeting with Thai Deputy PM Pridyathorn Devacula and a number of Vietnamese and Thai businesspeople, the two sides agreed to foster strategic partnership, especially in economic cooperation, and region and sub-region connectivity.

Minh underscored that Vietnam is willing to facilitate Thai investment in the country.
 

Deputy PM Minh meets President of the US UPS Company James Barber
 

On the same day, Deputy PM Minh met Heineken Company’s Financial Director Hooft Graafland and President of the US UPS Company James Barber.

Minh is scheduled to hold other bilateral meetings and address some crucial discussions on January 23.
