Australian national De Santos Kevin William was sentenced to 15 years in prison on September 10 after trying to smuggle 885.1093 grams of methamphetamine from Vietnam to Australia.

The sentence was handed down by the People’s Court in Ho Chi Minh City on September 10.

William was arrested on August 9, 2013, by Tan Son Nhat international airport security after he was caught red-handed attempting to illegally transport 885.1093 grams of methamphetamine from Vietnam to Australia via flight AK1453.
Through investigation, it was revealed the 51-year-old man was a real estate employee in Australia. In early July 2013, William was AUD2,000 in debt to another man by the name of Benkovich (also from Australia).
