The Electricity of Vietnam of Hanoi (EVN Hanoi) has carried out activities in response to Earth Hour 2018, aiming to raise public awareness of energy saving.
According to EVN Hanoi Deputy Director General Nguyen Quang Trung, as demand for energy in the capital is on the rise, the corporation has encouraged residents to save power for years.
In 2018, the EVN Hanoi has to date organised more than 60 talks, used 3,000 posters and handed out more than 90,000 flyers on saving electricity across the city.
The company’s staff and local families have been encouraged to take part in the upcoming Earth Hour event.
The EVN Hanoi plans to switch lights off at public places for one hour from 20:30 to 21:30 on March 24.
In response to the Earth Hour 2018 themed “Go More Green”, over 1,000 people came together at the walking and painting events held on the pedestrian streets around Hoan Kiem (Returned Sword) Lake in the downtown last weekend.
The events aim to deliver the message: Let’s protect the environment and use energy effectively towards the sustainable development of the country.
Earth Hour is the largest social event in the world, which has been observed in 7,000 cities of 172 countries and territories.
Together with the capital, Da Nang city, Ho Chi Minh City and other cities and provinces across the country will turn off the lights from 20:30-21:30 on March 24. The event is held by the Ministry of Industry and Trade with support from the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), Hanoi Beer, Alcohol and Beverage Joint Stock Company and Daikin Air Conditioning Vietnam Joint Stock Company.
