"Echoes of Victory" resounds across Vietnam to celebrate 50 years of national reunification
The political-artistic show aims to relive Vietnam's historical moments on the journey to national reunification.
THE HANOI TIMES ─ To mark the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025), the special political-artistic program "Echoes of Victory" took place simultaneously in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Quang Tri Province at their historical, iconic venues.
The events took place at Thong Nhat Park in Hanoi, Hien Luong Flagpole in Quang Tri, and Saigon River Park in Ho Chi Minh City – all historic landmarks symbolizing the connection between past and present. President Luong Cuong attended the Ho Chi Minh City site, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the Hanoi event, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man attended the Quang Tri gathering.
Thong Nhat Park, inaugurated in 1961, stands as a historical symbol of peace and the dream of national reunification. The Hien Luong – Ben Hai special national relic site represents the indomitable will of the Vietnamese people to achieve independence and freedom, and the Saigon River Park embodies the vibrant spirit of a heroic, dynamic, and creative Ho Chi Minh City.
The "Echoes of Victory" program celebrated Vietnam’s deep yearning for peace and its resilient spirit of independence and self-reliance, and conveyed pride in the nation's strong and prosperous development today. It was divided into three parts that blended historic documentary footages, feature reports, and spectacular artistic performances enhanced by 3D mapping, live-action scenes, and modern stage effects.
Audiences were treated to precious documentary segments that brought to life key historical milestones: the 1968 Tet Offensive, the 1973 Paris Peace Accords negotiations and signing, and the momentous day of national reunification on April 30, 1975. The program also honored the sacrifices and resilience of the Vietnamese people in their fight to defend the nation's sovereignty.
Alongside historical narratives, vibrant artistic performances celebrated today’s national achievements, sparking patriotic pride and inspiring the ongoing journey of national construction and defense. More than 1,200 artists, actors, military personnel, guests, and citizens participated in the event. Renowned artists such as People's Artist Ta Minh Tam, Meritorious Artists Hong Lien, Tung Duong, and Khanh Linh, brought powerful performances to life.
The highlights included the music video titled Con duong ta chon (The road we choose) that featured 50 outstanding individuals from various fields, and the performance Que huong Vietnam (Vietnam, my homeland) that showcased showcasing ambassadors, their spouses, international students, and 20 Miss and Runner-up titleholders dressed in Vietnam’s traditional ao dai.
The "Echoes of Victory" program left a lasting impression on audiences, stirring deep gratitude for the sacrifices made by previous generations and strengthening the resolve of today’s generation to proudly continue building a prosperous, civilized Vietnam.
