Building on their existing partnership in 5G education, this joint initiative aims to educate Vietnamese students on cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), blockchain, cloud computing, augmented reality/virtual reality (AR/VR), and automation.

The AI Lab will serve as a platform for industrial research, education, and innovation, focusing on the application of AI to Industry 4.0 initiatives facilitated by the deployment of 5G technology in Vietnam. The initiative will bring together industry, academic, and community partners to develop and implement AI solutions in various sectors, including energy, manufacturing, agriculture, transportation, and logistics.

Furthermore, the AI Lab will foster connections with community partners to create a broader AI and communications technology ecosystem. Leveraging the critical national infrastructure of 5G, the lab will support startup development and foster innovation across the country, while also nurturing the high-tech skills and capabilities required for the future workforce.

Denis Brunetti, Head of Ericsson Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Laos, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing its importance in developing a technologically advanced workforce and fostering the startup ecosystem in Vietnam.

He believes the collaboration will contribute to Vietnam's Industry 4.0 agenda and its ambition to become an AI hub in the ASEAN region by 2030, driving sustainable and inclusive socio-economic development through science, technology, and innovation.

Professor Claire Macken, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Director General of RMIT Vietnam, said: “Our links into industry, such as this growing partnership with Ericsson, ensure graduates have the practical skills necessary to succeed in fast-evolving business environments, filling emerging skills gaps and assisting Vietnam’s transition to a value-added economy.”
