Establishing a national steering committee for hunger-alleviation programme
The Prime Minister recently has decided to set up a national steering committee for implementation of action plan to address hunger in Vietnam in the 2016-2025 period.
A Deputy Prime Minister has been assigned to be the Chairman, with the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development as his deputy.
Other committee members include deputy ministers of Health; Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs; Planning and Investment; Finance and Foreign Affairs.
Commissioners of the committee are Vice President of the Vietnam Farmers' Union and Deputy Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union; The UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and the UN Development Programme (UNDP) will also appoint their representatives to join the committee.
The national steering committee is tasked with designing plans for every five years and each year of the period, and overseeing how the plans are deployed among different State agencies.
Other committee members include deputy ministers of Health; Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs; Planning and Investment; Finance and Foreign Affairs.
