With the same spirit, Hanoi authority always set environment protection, sustainable development as one of the main strategic targets. “We hope the fair would be the chance for authority, people and scientists to discuss deeply about initiatives against climate change, contributing to build a green, clean, civilized and modern Hanoi city”, the Chairman pressed. He’s also in high hope that EU would keep collaborating closely with municipal authority on the field.
Ambassador – Head of EU Delegation to Vietnam, Mr Bruno Angelet said: “Fighting Climate Change is a priority in our partnership with Vietnam. We promote in particular Vietnam’s energy transition, including through substantial financial support, as the energy sector is key for economic growth, but also the biggest emitter Green House Gases”. Paying respect for approval and support of Hanoi People's Committee, the ambassador also hopes the fair would be held annualy and both sides would nurture more cooperation activities.
Through the Paris Agreement, the world committed to preserve the very source of life: our planet and its environment. The climate change deal is an unprecedented multilateral partnership between nearly 200 countries including Vietnam, supported by communities and companies across the world, to address a global problem that we can only tackle together. Since the beginning, Europe has been at the forefront of this collective engagement.
Vietnam is one of the countries most severely affected by climate change and its related disasters. Consistent to its international commitments regarding Climate Change and Sustainable Development Goals, the European Union is actively helping Vietnam on mitigation through energy sector reform, and adaptation through funding studies on climate change impact and appropriate adaptation measures.
