Ex-PetroVietnam Chairman Dinh La Thang faces more criminal charges

This is the latest investigation by the police at the Phu Tho ethanol factory of Petrochemical and Bio-Fuel JSC - a subsidiary of PetroVietnam.

Expanding the investigation for Phu Tho Ethanol case, Vietnam’s investigative police on January 20 launched criminal proceeding once again against Dinh La Thang, former chairman of Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam), said the Ministry of Public Security.

Accordingly, Dinh La Thang, born in 1960, is investigated for the charge of “violating regulations on investment in construction structures, causing serious consequences” under Article 224 of the Penal Code.

This is the latest investigation by police at the Phu Tho ethanol factory of Petrochemical and Bio-Fuel JSC - a subsidiary of PetroVietnam.

The Ministry of Public Security also launched criminal proceedings against Tran Thi Binh, born in 1958, former deputy director general of PetroVietnam, for the same charge. 

The case is still under investigation in accordance with the law.

Thang has already been sentenced to 30 year imprisonment for being guilty in two economic mismanagement  cases at PetroVietnam.
