Exorbitant prices for new iPhone 6 in Vietnam

The iPhone 6 has just appeared in Vietnamese shops and is being sold for prices as high as VND49 million (USD2,300) each.

Prices for the coveted gadget vary from VND24 million (USD1,142) to VND49 million (USD2,300), depending on the amount of storage.

Vinh Phat Mobile in HCM City was the first outlet to sell the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in Vietnam. A representative from Vinh Phat said that the price for an iPhone 6 is VND24 million. “However, that is the suggested retail price. This afternoon (September 19), we will receive a shipment, and will announce our price later."

Meanwhile, some other retailers said that the price for an iPhone 6 with just 16GB is at VND26 million. Today, many of them have yet to sell a single one.

iShop on Ba Trieu Street, Hanoi, is the second outlet to carry the iPhone 6, priced at VND26 million. But, the shop said they will wait a few days before selling them.

Huy Mobile, in Thanh Hoa Province, announced that they also have the 16GB iPhone 6 in stock and plan to offer them to customers on September 20 for around VND29 million.

It was reported that a company named Phongee in HCM City sells the 128GB iPhone 6 for VND49 million and the 128GB iPhone 6 Plus for VND79 million. According to Mai Phu Phong, managing director of Phongee, to date eight customers have already reserved four iPhone 6 and four iPhone 6 Plus.
