Fair promoting OCOP products underway in Hanoi

The week of Vietnamese specialties and products presentation under the "One Commune, One Product" (OCOP) program is being held in Hanoi until November 13.

The fair introducing Vietnamese specialties and OCOP products, held in Hanoi, is expected to support trade connections and sales of businesses and cooperatives of Hanoi and other localities.

Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen The Hiep said the fair would also help the capital's consumers recognize quality products and buy them at reasonable prices.

He stressed that participating companies and cooperatives have the opportunity to place their products on the shelves of the MM Mega Market supermarket system, learn the rules of this distribution system and adjust their products if necessary.

The Hanoi’s OCOP fair has attracted 70 booths displaying farm produce, products from the forestry and fishery sectors and craft villages, safe and organic foods, and high-quality consumer goods from provinces and cities, including Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Son La, and Phu Yen.

Remarkably, the city’s districts will also offer their OCOP products, fruits, and farm produce at reasonable prices, Hiep added.

Statistics from the MM Mega Market supermarket chain showed that OCOP products sell well in the supermarket, whose buyers are high-income earners.

 Hanoian consumers attend the fair.

Dinh Quang Khoi, the supermarket’s Marketing Director, called for the support of local authorities, functional departments, and distribution businesses in promoting and selling OCOP products, thereby helping to increase production scale and reduce costs.

“It will help to increase their products’ competitiveness in the market,” he added.

This year, the supermarket system continues with the program to promote  Vietnamese products.

“This event opens up more cooperation opportunities between MM Mega Market Vietnam and prestigious OCOP enterprises in provinces and cities, thus not only bringing Vietnamese agricultural products closer to consumers nationwide but also to other countries in the region through our distribution network in Thailand and other Southeast Asian countries,” said MM Mega Market Thang Long CEO Nguyen Duc Toan.

At the event, the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade and MM Mega Market Vietnam signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the promotion and consumption of OCOP products, fruits, and agricultural products of Hanoi and other localities in the MM Mega Market system.

In addition, a representative from the supermarket chain signed a cooperation agreement with 25 suppliers to bring OCOP products into its distribution system.

At the event, representatives from provinces and cities sought wholesale and retail opportunities, promoting OCOP products directly to consumers for end-of-year shopping.
