Foreign visitors amazed at Hanoi amid second US – North Korea summit
That Hanoi has been chosen to host the second summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korea`s leader Kim Jong Un has become not only a focus of local and international media, but also a common topic of foreign visitors these days.
Christopher Gunnley (UK) and William Burnett (US)
I think Hanoi is a perfect destination for the US – North Korea summit, as Vietnam has relations with both the US and North Korea. Vietnam can show what they would become today if they decide to open up.
Vietnam has done tons of progress in preparation for the summit. We are staying in Lang street, and they have opened a road, putting up trees and flags. It looks very modern and welcoming to us. I think Vietnamese people are very exciting towards the event and no doubt they will have a warm welcoming to the summit.
Deedee Herman and Paul Werbitsky (Canada)
We have planned our trip to Vietnam well in advance before hearing about the summit. But we are also looking forward to the event, which is going to have great impacts on Vietnam’s profile. We saw a lot of decoration from the airport to Hanoi’s downtown.
By the way, we have been in Vietnam for a few weeks, Vietnamese food is amazing and the people are very honest, which make you feel totally comfortable.
Janne Felix Weissenberger (Norway)
Honestly, I did not know that the second summit was going to happen until I have arrived in Vietnam. But it's nice that they have decided to talk, and hopeful that things going to be improved from here. I have been travelling in Vietnam for a month now, and I love Hanoi with friendly people and great food like pho and banh mi. I'm going to explore more food in Vietnam in the remaining days in Hanoi.
Henker Lydia Boerekamps (Netherlands)
It's always good that they decide to talks. We have followed the news every day at home and was surprised that the summit is going to take place in Hanoi. We will be here during the summit. I think Hanoi is great, only a bit busy with a lot of motor bikes, I heard that there are five million of it in Hanoi. The food is great, and people are friendly and polite.
Lauren Ahern (Florida, US)
I think Hanoi is a good choice for the place to host the second summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un, because Vietnam has good relations with both sides. I hope that the summit will open a new chapter for the friendly relations between the US and North Korea.

The US-North Korea Summit is a wonderful opportunity for Hanoi and for the Vietnamese people. Approximately 3,000 media representatives will visit the capital city and experience the smiling people, great food and scenery, and Vietnamese culture.
The media exposure will be a great boost for Hanoi tourism sector and will demonstrate to the world that in a relatively short time, Vietnam transformed from a war-torn country that ranked almost last in everything, into a dynamic modern society with one of the fastest growing economies on the planet.
