FPT Software to build $85 million hi-tech complex in central Vietnam

The company aims to turn Binh Dinh Province into a leading AI center in the region.

FPT Software, a subsidiary of FPT Corporation - the largest information technology service company in Vietnam, plans to break ground on a hi-tech complex costing US$84.8 million in the Central Province of Binh Dinh in the third quarter of this year.

The center will focus on research, production, and training technology experts.

FPT Corporation Chairman Truong Gia Binh hoped this 15-hectare complex would turn Binh Dinh into the region's leading artificial intelligence (AI) center, a scientific hub for testing the world's latest technologies.

He said it requires clear goals, thorough planning, and the best human resources to make the goal possible.

FPT Software is licensed for the high-tech complex.

In 2021, the technology company signed an agreement with Binh Dinh Province and McKinsey & Company Vietnam on building Binh Dinh into an economic hub of the Central Coast region and a leading AI center in the region in the province's planning for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.

Previously, FPT also signed an agreement with the world's leading AI research institute Mila to develop the world's leading AI Research Center in Binh Dinh's Quy Nhon based on Mila's consultation and extensive experience.

This FPT Artificial Intelligence Center has an area of about 94ha with a total investment of more than VND4.3 trillion ($179 million).
