Hanoi Times – The FPT Telecom just became an official member of the international sea optical cable union AAG (Asia-America Gateway) and will participate in building an international undersea optical cable line in the Pacific.

In the time to come, FPT Telecom will build a temporary station in Vung Tau to receive the cable line and connect it to its backbone network (BNS). Finished in the fourth quarter of 2008, the AAG cable line will make FPT Telecome’s total international connection band reach at least 40 GB, ten times higher than the curren transmission line.

The 20,000 km AAG submarine optical cable project, running from Malaysia to the US, requires a total estimate of US$ 560 million. The 314 km cable branch to Vietnam has the initial capacity of 240 Gbps.
