French firm committed to supporting Vietnam smart city development

The French company is working with the country’s largest private conglomerate, Vingroup, to support digital transformation for its VinFast and Vinhomes businesses.

Dassault Systèmes, the French software developer has opened its office in Hanoi with the expectation of helping Vietnam realize the smart city development plan by 2025.

Josephine Ong, Managing Director for Asia Pacific South, Dassault Systèmes.

Speaking at the opening ceremony on July 28 in Hanoi, Josephine Ong, Managing Director for Asia Pacific South, Dassault Systèmes, said the company has its sights set on Vietnam’s emerging smart-city developments, as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Danang have announced the deployment of smart technologies in sectors ranging from traffic management to health and education in the coming decade.

“The Covid-19 pandemic serves as a clear demonstration of the need for public services to act swiftly and decisively during times of crisis. By leveraging our collaborative 3DEXPERIENCE platform with virtual twin technologies, decision-makers will be better equipped to plan for unforeseen crises, as well as the impact of new urban projects in Vietnam,” she said.

With experiences in global smart city projects, the company wished to support Vietnam to integrate data from different sources from management agencies, and cooperate with people in order to improve the quality of urban life, Ong told The Hanoi Times.

Besides the smart city industry, in the next three to five years, the French company will focus on developing two main industries in Vietnam, including manufacturing and electric vehicles.

In Vietnam, the French company is working with the country’s largest private conglomerate, Vingroup, to support its digital transformation for its car manufacturing arm VinFast and Vinhomes, its real estate business, Ong added. “We are active in the electric vehicle space globally and see this as a sector in which our 3DEXPERIENCE platform is ideally suited to optimize manufacturing processes and help propel the industry forward in Vietnam.”

Samson Khaou, Executive Vice President, Asia Pacific, Dassault Systèmes said: “The local presence that we are establishing here is an opportunity to support the country’s efforts to be a green manufacturing hub and facilitate the export of made-in-Vietnam products.”
