Fundraising Concert by “Hope” Choir

Concert by the “Hope” choir of visually-impaired singers and musicians, presenting traditional Vietnamese songs and music from different countries.

Friends of Vietnam Heritage (FVH) and the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Vietnam are delighted to announce a special fundraising concert to support the Hope Choir led by Mr Ton That Triem.
Programme details will be sent to those who RSVP. It is likely the event will start at 3pm and with the concert be split into 2 parts and an interval in between. There will be a compilation of traditional Vietnamese songs and range of music from different countries.
Many Embassies are very kindly supporting this great initiative by providing refreshments and selections of their nation’s songs. And anyone coming is also most welcome to bring a bottle.
The minimum donation is 100,000 VND per person. You are, of course, extremely welcome to contribute more if you would like. Our aim is to raise as much money as possible for this good cause. All proceeds go to the Choir. We will announce total funds raised at the end of the event.
The Choir is formed of 20 remarkable visually-impaired singers and folk instrument musicians. They practice under two amazing people – renowned pianist Mr Ton That Triem and his opera singer wife, Nguyen Xuan Thanh.
Uncle Triem (as the Choir members call him), and his wife Thanh set up the Hope Choir 10 years ago. They have trained and encouraged the choir in performing Vietnamese folk songs as well as songs and music from numerous countries, singing in many different languages including English, French, German, Italian, Russian, Spanish, Malaysian and African. Triem and Thanh have helped transform the lives of the Choir members. Through their performances, they understand they have talent and a valuable place in society.
The choir have performed before special guests such as former French Prime Minister Francois Fillon, former Australian Governor-General Quentin Bryce, His Majesty the King of Malaysia and Former US President Bill Clinton amongst many others.
Fundraising Concert will be performed on Sun 05 Mar 2017.
