Get in the holiday spirit with Hanoi's very first German Christmas Market
Hanoi’s very first German Christmas Market is on the way to rock the city.
You can get in the holiday spirit at the Cua Bac Church. Escape the big city stress, relax, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, savor Christmas scents, sample typical Christmas Market treats and beverages, buy hand-made items, and spend memorable moments with friends and family over a cup of hot wine.
As is customary in Germany, the Christmas Market will be located near a beautiful church - in front of Hanoi’s Cua Bac Church. With its clock tower and picturesque windows, it provides the perfect festive backdrop for the Christmas Market, whose sights, sounds and scents will allow visitors to experience Christmas with all their senses. As you stroll across the market, you can admire and purchase many special items for you and your loved ones, from typical ‘Stollen’ pastry to hand-crafted Vietnamese products.
To get you in the right mood, the Christmas Market will kick off with a highlight: a Christmas Concert performed by the Suc Song Moi Bambus Ensemble, featuring classical music and international Christmas favorites to sing along to. The concert will be held at the market on December 14th, 2017 at 6 pm. The ensemble is looking forward to being supported by many eager carolers!
Furthermore, to mark the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the Goethe-Institut’s presence in Vietnam, the Goethe-Institut Hanoi will hold a special Christmas concert on December 21th at 8 pm.
To make this event a unique experience, we will trade our usual venue, the Goethe-Institut, for the charming atmosphere of the Cua Bac Church. The concert is also a special event for the church and the audience: It is the first Christmas concert in the history of the Cua Bac Church.
The program features Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Coronation Mass as well as Johann Sebastian Bach’s Orchestra Suite in D major, which also includes the famous Air on the G string.
The Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra is joined by two choruses: the Hanoi Catholic Youth Choir and the Opera Choir, as well as four soloists, two of them from Germany.
Enjoy a beautiful time with music, candlelight, and the aroma of hot wine and get in a festive mood for the holidays. We are looking forward to welcoming you at the Christmas Market and at the two Christmas Concert at Cua Bac Church.
For the second Christmas Concert on December 21th at 8 pm, we kindly ask you to make a charitable donation for the caritas of the parish to help the poor as you enter the church.
