Come and celebrate the International Music Festival on this Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Institut Français de Hanoi – L’Espace from 4.30 pm.
The afternoon will start with three talented independent groups from Hanoi – “HUB”, “Xanh 8+1” and “B52” – who will feature original pop-rock compositions in Vietnamese. Then, Puzzle, a well-known Franco-Vietnamese band from Hanoi, will perform songs from the French-language repertoire.
The party will continue to the rhythm of the Caribbean with the exceptional performance of the Haitian group “L’impossible”. Finally, “DJ Quan” will create a grand finale with electronic music to close the night.
Hidden Beat: “Night of Jazz”
Heritage Space “Hidden Beat” Vol 1 with Hanoing Jazz Band – a multinational band that consists of 18 talented musicians whose performances will invite you to dance and swing. It’s gonna be a lively night that brings unforgettable memories for audiences.
With the “Hidden beat – inspire your heart” series created with the belief in the interminable inspiration of music within our daily life, Heritage Space always aims to maximize our potential to support independent music artists/groups/bands, and become an important chain to connect audience and music artists.
“Sparkling” – Exhibition of Gold-painted Wood Furniture
From June 20, in 1st floor, Vietnam National Museum of History, the exhibition “Sparkling” at the National Museum of History, featuring pieces of traditional gold-painted wood furniture.
Wood carving is a traditional craft from Dong Son period in Viet Khe, Chau Can, Duong Du, Xuan La, Minh Duc, Chau Son to feudal dynasties. The development of religions, beliefs make gold-painted lacquer become more and more prosperous. In addition to agriculture, many regions in our country have secondary occupations as carpentry for the construction of houses, pagodas, furniture, bed cabinets, statues or ornaments.
The art of wood carving and gold-painted wood furniture is a valuable cultural heritage and needs to be preserved.
A Tribute to Director Asghar Farhadi: “About Elly”
From June 17 to 20, in the Hanoi Old Quarter Culture Exchange Centerin, the final week of the Tribute to director Asghar Farhadi movie month, you are invited to the screening of About Elly (2009).
About Elly is the fourth film by Farhadi. The film tells the story of the mysterious disappearance of a kindergarten teacher during a picnic in the north of Iran, which is followed by a series of misadventures for her fellow travelers.
Farhadi won the Silver Bear for Best Director at the 59th Berlin International Film Festival for the film. The film was also nominated for 10 awards at the 27th Fajr International Film Festival in Tehran where Farhadi won the Crystal Simorgh for best directing. About Elly was Iran’s official submission for the competition in the Foreign Film section at the 82nd Academy Awards.
The film screening is for educational purpose and fundraising for Young Cinema Fund of TPD. Donation (at the door): 20,000 VND/audience. Doors open at 7 pm and close when the screening room is full.
Group Exhibition “Cụng, Đụng, Chạm”
“Cụng, Đụng, Chạm” is the artist residency and co-authoring program with the communities from the activist group “The Pioneers for the voice of Ethnic Minorities”. During the residency lasted for 30 days of May 2017, four artist groups from Hanoi have spent time living, working and co-authoring works in four Tien Phong communities in Lao Cai, Yen Bai, and Dak Nong. In order to mark this result of this first touch/chạm, the co-authoring groups would like to invite you to a final exhibition at The Hanoi Old Quarter Culture Exchange Center – 50 Dao Duy Tu Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi. After this group exhibition, the works will be given back to the ethnic minority communities who co-authored them.
