Golf legend Gregory John Norman named Tourism Ambassador of Vietnam

Gregory John Norman was born on February 10, 1955, an Australian professional golfer and entrepreneur who spent 331 weeks as the world`s Number 1 Official World Golf Rankings ranked golfer in the 1980 and 1990.

63-year-old golf legend Gregory John Norman, chairman and CEO of Great White Shark Enterprises, has been appointed the tourism ambassador of Vietnam by Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Nguyen Ngoc Thien.

With Greg Norman's experience in business, education and charity, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien said becoming the tourism ambassador is a milestone for Grey Norman and also for Vietnam's tourism sector.
On his side, Greg Norman said that golf is the best potential for tourism development. He promised to do his best to fulfill the duties of the position, help to attract more foreign visitors to Vietnam and to make Vietnam become one of the most famous golf destinations in the world.
According to Greg Norman, he will connect with media magazines, to organize golf international events and introduce Vietnam with many kinds of golf organizers in the world.
Born in 1955, Gregory John Norman is an Australian professional golfer and entrepreneur who spent 331 weeks as the world's Number 1 Official World Golf Rankings ranked golfer in the 1980 and 1990.
He has won 91 international tournaments, including 20 PGA Tour tournaments and two majors: The Open Championships in 1986 and 1993. Norman also earned thirty top-10 finishes and was the runner-up 8 times in majors throughout his career. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2001 with the highest percentage of votes (80%) of any golfer to date.
In a reference to his blond hair, size, aggressive golf style and his birthplace's native coastal animal, Norman's nickname is “The Great White Shark” (often shortened to just “The Shark”), which he earned after his play at the 1981 Masters.
Earlier, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism appointed several tourism ambassadors, including actress Ly Nha Ky, Vietnam's first ambassador for tourism; world-famous chef Bobby Chinn, a tourism ambassador for Vietnam in Europe; Anoa Suzanne Dussol Perran, a French national of Vietnamese origin, as the Vietnamese tourism ambassador to France for 2015 – 2018; Hollywood film director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, the first foreign director to become Vietnam’s tourism ambassador; and Ly Xuong Can, Vietnam’s tourism ambassador to South Korea.
