Gov't approves plan to build Moc Chau National Tourist Site

The plan aims to gear up the economic and social development of Moc Chau.

Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung has approved a planning scheme to build Moc Chau National Tourist Site, Son La province until 2030, according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The plan aims to foster the economic and social development of the province. Accordingly,  Moc Chau national tourist site will cover an area of 206,150 hectares in the two districts of Moc Chau and Van Ho.
The site is expected to include Moc Chau resort tourism, Moc Chau eco-tourism, and Moc Chau cultural tourism with total area 2,000 ha. Specifically, Moc Chau resort tourism will cover a total area 600 ha with luxury resort. Moc Chau eco-tourism will cover a total area of 442 ha and Moc Chau cultural tourism with total area 460 ha will be used for building accommodation facilities and entertainment complex, cultural and historical relics.
In addition, the province will promote the training of personnel in tourism services and high technology agriculture in the coming time. Competent agencies will work to improve the local health care system and protect the environment, contributing to climate change response.
Infrastructure for trading activities will also be enhanced in the near future, particularly the Long Sap international border gate. Moc Chau is expected to attract 1.65 million visitors by 2020, and about 5 million by 2030.
Located in Son La province, 180 kilometers from Hanoi, Moc Chau Plateau Moc Chau, one of the biggest plateaus in the country, stretches some 80km long and 25km wide, and stands about 1,050m above sea level.
