Grand art show “Spring of Reunification” marks 50 years of national reunification

A special art performance took place in Ho Chi Minh City on the night of April 29 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

THE HANOI TIMES ─ A special art performance titled “Spring of Reunification” was held on April 29 at the Sang tao (Creative) Park in Ho Chi Minh City to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025).

The event was attended by General Secretary To Lam, former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, President Luong Cuong, former presidents Nguyen Minh Triet and Truong Tan Sang, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, former National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Do Van Chien.

International guests included General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, President of the Cambodian People's Party and Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Vice President of Cuba Salvador Valdes Mesa, and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of Belarus Ipatau Vadzim.

According to Nguyen Van Hung, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that the victorious on April 30, 1975 remains a shining moment in Vietnam’s history, symbolizing revolutionary heroism and human intelligence. It is a great achievement of the 20th century with global and historical significance.

Culture and the arts played a key role in that triumph. They guided and inspired, bridging the past and future, sorrow and joy, dreams and reality. The performance is a tribute to previous generations, soldiers, and citizens who sacrificed for national independence and freedom.

It conveys deep gratitude and faith of the Vietnamese people in the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, uniting the people in building a powerful and prosperous country.

The show featured three acts: “The Pain of Separation and the Path to Reunification”, “The Spring of Peace”, and “Spring of a New Era”. Through these themes, it honored the significance of the 1975 Spring Victory that ended the war and brought national unity.

More than 1,000 performers participated in the art show, combining traditional and modern artistic forms, including music, dance, and state-of-the-art sound and lighting. The performance vividly portrayed the resilience and determination of the Vietnamese people in their struggle for national liberation.

It also highlighted the country’s remarkable achievements over the past 50 years of reunification and nearly 40 years of renewal under the leadership of the Party.

The show stirred patriotic pride, love for the homeland, and reverence for revolutionary traditions across all generations of Vietnamese people. It carried forward the spirit of the historic victory, echoing President Ho Chi Minh’s dream of a more dignified, stronger, and more beautiful Vietnam.

Prior to the performance, President Luong Cuong hosted a grand reception in Ho Chi Minh City for foreign delegates attending the 50th anniversary celebration. The reception welcomed leaders and representatives from many countries, political parties, and international friends, including the top leaders of Laos, Cambodia, and Cuba.
