Grand parade to mark Vietnam’s 80th Independence Day, drawing 30,000

Hanoi is preparing a grand celebration to mark the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Vietnam’s National Day, with a large-scale parade and commemorative ceremony.

THE HANOI TIMES — Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Tran Sy Thanh on July 2 signed a plan regarding the national-level ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 – August 19, 2025) and National Day (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025).

According to the plan, the parade will take place at 6:30 AM on September 2, beginning at Ba Dinh Square and continuing along major streets in the city center. The event is expected to host approximately 30,000 people, in addition to the marching forces.

The ceremony aims to affirm the historic significance of the August Revolution and the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

The event also seeks to reinforce national unity, instill revolutionary ideals, educate younger generations about patriotism, and honor sacrifices for national independence. The spirit of unity and the vision set by the 13th National Party Congress will be central themes throughout the program.

The National Steering Committee for Major Anniversaries and Historical Events (2023–2025) will oversee the event. Hanoi will serve as the lead organizer, collaborating closely with the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other relevant agencies.
