With 1,969 islets of hulking limestone and deep, green waters that are home to myriad floating villages, Ha Long Bay is a place where time slows to a standstill.
CNN, the US cable news network, has listed Ha Long Bay in Vietnam as one of the 25 most beautiful places around the world beside two Asian wonders namely Zhangjiajie National Forest Park in China and El Nido in the Philippines.
According to the network, the enduring popularity has made Ha Long Bay one of the hottest natural attractions in Southeast Asia but that doesn't stop the destination from being the most beautiful place in Vietnam.
“With 1,969 islets of hulking limestone and deep, green waters that are home to myriad floating villages, this is a place where time slows to a standstill. Sail on a junk boat or pick up a kayak, and get lost in the quieter reaches of this vast and fascinating corner of the South China Sea,” CNN wrote.
Mystical Ha Long Bay, which is located in the northeast of Vietnam, has attracted countless visitors for its mesmerizing seascapes and several touristic, cultural and sport events including photo exhibitions, carnivals, and cuisines among others.
The destination even got a boost in 2017 when it was featured in the “Kong: Skull Island” blockbuster and highlighted by prestigious world travel guide books including the Lonely Planet and the Rough Guides.
Ha Long Bay was also recognized twice by the UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage and voted one of the new Seven Wonders of the World.
Besides the CNN list also includes Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda, Samburu in Kenya, The Maldives, Petra in Jordan, Ciudad Perdida in Colombia, Svalbard in Norway, and Positano in Italy, among others.
