Hanoi Book Fair 2017: Inspiration for start-ups

Opening for 4 days (from September 22 – 26), the Hanoi Book Fair 2017 is an ideal event for book lovers, especially for young readers who look for inspiration for start-ups.

At the Hanoi Book Fair 2017 in Thang Long Imperial Citadel, readers not only find many books on start-ups, but also can meet and learn experiences from authors, businessmen about their start-up processes.

Right at the entrance of the Book Fair, the spaces with the main theme “Book and Start-ups” immediately attracts attention of readers. In this space, readers can find many books on start-ups, such as “Start-up nation”, “Start-up with 100 USD”, “Start –up – The way to success”, “Encyclopedia on start-ups” and many others.

Hoang Minh (34 years old, Hai Ba Trung District) said, he has started his business in retailing market for 6 months. As such, he expected his business will expand from 2 original retailing stores to 5 stores in the first year. However, only in operation there occurs difficulties and challenges in business management, approaching market and human resources management. “Therefore, I go to the Hanoi Book Fair 2017 to look for start-up experiences of successful businessmen through these books. Reading these books helps me to identify my shortcomings, which I did not know about before establishing my company” – Hoang Minh said.

Moreover, readers will have chance to listen to practical advises from famous speakers through series of discussion events, such as: “Technological start-ups 4.0”, “Brainstorming and start-up instruments – Narrowing the gap from theory to practice”, “Woman and start-up”. These events are aimed to share experiences of experts on start –up enterprises management in the context of industrial revolution 4.0. 

Besides, some events in the sideline of the 2017 Hanoi book fair will attract readers, especially young children such as: bilingual books English – Vietnamese and interactive games with books; Study math through folklore stories, reading spaces and other activities will be maintained as previous events such as: café book, portrait drawing, playing ground for children and free wifi connection for visitors. In order to show appreciation to readers, during the events, publishers will discount books at attractive rates. 

At this event, besides 32 publishers in Vietnam occupying 155 booths, there will be some publishers from ASEAN and 26 international publishers such as Loewe, Copperath, Magellan, Verlag Fiedrich Oetinger GmBH (Germany); Glenat, Fleurus (France); Free Spirit, Familius, Beyondword (US); Crimon (England); Willey (Singapore), Kyowon (Korea), SBCR, Kadokawa, Kobunsha (Japan); ACI (Malaysia); X-ACT International (India). As such, readers can find in this Book Fair books from various categories. Many booths are offering big discounts which is reasonable for students. There are also old books from great Vietnamese authors such as Vu Trong Phung, Nguyen Cong Hoan with price from 5,000 – 10,000 VND. Many books for children are being discounted by Kim Dong publisher from 20 – 30%. 

However, there are also may valuable books from hundreds thousand VND to 1 million VND, which are displayed at booths of publishers. Director of Huy Hoang Publisher said: “Through 4 seasons, the Hanoi Book Fair has transformed significantly with many positive remarks”. 

The Book Fair has attracted large number of visitors and book lovers coming for reading and buying books. Along with the Book street at December 19 Street, and other book events, the Hanoi Book Fair 2017 has become a well known spot for book lovers in Hanoi. The event will end in September 26.
