Hanoi boosts connection between enterprises and trade schools

Hanoi has created a favorable working environment for young workers to develop their skills and has consistently pursued a policy of attracting talented people.

According to Bach Lien Huong, Director of the municipal Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Hanoi considers the cooperation between enterprises and vocational schools as one of the breakthroughs for the sustainable development of the capital in 2023-2025.

Huong stressed that the quality of Hanoi's vocational training and workforce has improved in recent years and can meet the needs of businesses and the labor market.

"Hanoi's policy is to attract talented people and create a favorable working environment for young workers to develop their skills. Over the years, the city has always been appreciated for its young and high-quality human resources," said the director.

Hanoi is home to a large system of trade schools, including many high-tech and key vocational training schools, providing high-quality human resources for all sectors of the economy.

According to statistics from the Hanoi Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, by the end of 2022, Hanoi had 310 vocational training institutions, including 69 colleges, 59 middle schools, 54 vocational training centers and 128 enterprises. With the development of vocational education institutions, the number of trainees has also increased, which can satisfy the thirst of workers.

"In recent years, the department has effectively developed vocational education and training related to the labor market and has issued many guidelines and policies. Worth mentioning is the vocational education and labor market matching sessions held every year in the capital," Huong said.

She added that within five years [2019-2023], the matching sessions had been held four times on a large scale, attracting nearly 30,000 students, parents, and workers in the city. After that, more than 5,000 workers were interviewed and hired.

"The matching sessions have created opportunities for vocational schools to improve the quality of training, timely update market development trends and labor recruitment demands. This has positively impacted the improvement of training quality and the increase of the proportion of skilled workers in the city," Huong stressed.

She pointed out that as of April 2023, more than 37,200 students have received internships thanks to the cooperation of vocational schools with 1,150 enterprises. In addition, nearly 500 enterprises have ordered training for their more than 135,400 employees, and about 520 enterprises have hired tens of thousands of students to work after graduation.

"The number of skilled workers has gradually increased, and the quality of training has been improved with positive changes in the structure of various professions, meeting the needs of the labor market and helping trainees easily get a job with a stable income after graduation," Huong said.

Many solutions to support the creation of jobs

The Director of the Hanoi Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs noted that in recent years, the municipal authorities have implemented an array of solutions to support job creation, including improving the link between businesses and trade schools.

The city has also issued policies to facilitate business start-ups, such as supporting business registration costs and providing tax incentives, to help them improve competitiveness and sustainable development and to help skilled workers find more job opportunities.

In addition, Hanoi has opened about 15 job matching centers in the city's suburbs to provide free counseling, career guidance, and job introductions for workers and to help job seekers meet employers face-to-face.

In addition, Hanoi has supported workers in posting job vacancies and enterprises in posting recruitment information through two websites, vieclamhanoi.net and vieclamhanoi2.vn.
