Hanoi conducts rapid Covid-19 tests on returnees from Danang

Nearly 30,000 residents in Hanoi visited Danang in July

On the morning of July 31, people in Hanoi's districts returning from Danang, where the first locally-transmitted case was detected seven days ago, underwent rapid testing for Covid-19.

At 8am on July 31, Ba Dinh district’s medical center in collaboration with ward health stations will collect blood samples of people having visited the beach city for quick Covid-19 testing.

Many people showed up early to be sampled and get the results early.

People filled out information and declared their itineraries in Danang in the past days.

People in the Ba Dinh district wait to be sampled for the Covid-19 rapid test. Nguyen Thi Hoai from the Lieu Giai ward, who visited Danang in July, was extremely concerned to learn that someone there was infected, so she wants to take the coronovirus test to feel relieved. "I am glad that the district authorities have organized the tests for people returning from Danang," she told Kinh te & Do thi.

According to the district’s medical center, Ba Dinh district will conduct tests at four stations.

According to Deputy Director of the center Nguyen Hong Thuy, the sampling steps comply with the regulations of the Ministry of Health to ensure the safest standards. Tested people will only take a maximum of about 15 minutes for the initial result.

The steering committee for Covid-19 prevention and control in Hanoi said that nearly 30,000 residents visited Danang in July.

On the first day of Covid-19 testing, 87 people returning from Danang with signs of cough and fever tested negative for the novel coronavirus.

In the downtown district of Hoan Kiem, there are more than 1,000 people returning from Danang. On July 30, the district health center organized rapid tests for 391 people in seven wards, all proved negative.

As of July 31, Hanoi recorded two cases of Covid-19 linked to the outbreak in Danang, including a 23-year-old man in Nam Tu Liem district and a 76-year-old man in Tay Ho district.
