Hanoi focuses on digital business development

Hanoi will formulate appropriate mechanisms and policies for developing digital infrastructure, scientific and technological research, and a market for digital enterprises.

Hanoi plans to build 10,000 digital technology companies by 2025, as well as 10 groups of digital technology products that will be incorporated into the city's key industrial products.

This is the latest decision released by the Hanoi People's Committee to develop Vietnamese digital technology firms in the city until 2025.

Under the plan, Hanoi also aims to incubate 10,000 innovative digital technology startups that can provide the market with solutions for the development of digital government, digital economy, and digital society.

Hanoi will focus on a number of key solution groups and tasks. Specifically, the city’s government will issue appropriate mechanisms and policies for digital infrastructure development, scientific and technological research, and a market for digital businesses.

Ha Minh Hai, Deputy Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, said that in terms of digital transformation, Hanoi has achieved some important results, such as becoming one of the top 100 smartest cities in the world in 2024, selected by the International Institute for Development and Management (IMD) in collaboration with the World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization (WeGO).

"Digital infrastructure-digital platform-digital data" and "information security and service development" have been synchronously and successfully implemented in Hanoi, according to Hai. All state agencies have adopted digital document signing, and numerous shared information database systems have been implemented at three levels of government.

He stressed that the highlight in the near future will be the launch of the "Ha Noi-S" application, which will provide many utilities for people and businesses. "A number of practical services have been introduced in the downtown area to create the most favorable conditions for people and businesses, such as sharing electronic health records, using citizen ID cards to access all medical examinations and treatments, and cashless car parking," Hai said.

The deputy chairman will assign specific tasks to departments, districts, and associations in the field of information technology and digital transformation.
