The event, organised by the municipal Department of Industry and Trade, also sees 230 domestic businesses nationwide showcasing their typical products in nearly 600 booths. The upcoming event will include exhibitors from Vietnam and other countries in the region. This event will showcase products like home decor and handicraft products, indoor and outdoor furniture, home textiles and embroidery, gifts and ethnic items, personal accessories, toys and more.

The event's organisers described the event as a good opportunity for handicraft producers and traders from across the country to advertise and promote their products, seek new customers, expand their export markets, and take advantage of the free trade agreements that Vietnam has signed.

A total of 1,285 memoranda of understanding (MoU) and contracts were signed at the previous show. Of that figure, 865 contracts worth 150 million USD were reached with foreign importers. Total retail sales of goods at the show exceeded 10 billion VND (450,000 USD).

According to Hanoi ’s Department of Industry and Trade (HDIT), the event holds a great deal of potential for businesses to find new partners and sign contracts. The five major groups of products on display are: home décor and handicrafts, indoor and outdoor wood products, household textile and embroidery products, souvenirs and ethnic minority products, and jewellery and accessories.

The large number of overseas buyers who are attending is a positive sign for Vietnamese handicraft manufacturers and encouraging, bearing in mind the global economic downturn, said the department. On display will be handicraft products, interior decor, indoor and outdoor furniture, home furnishings, embroidery work, fashion accessories, toys and handmade products made by ethnic minority peoples. Two workshops will be held to introduce domestic businesses to the latest trends.

Furthermore, a field trip to craft villages for foreign businesses is being carried out during the expo with the hope of seeking trade partnerships and expanding the country’s handicrafts and gift market. The fair brings together craft associations, trade promotion organisations and almost 600 international importers from all over the world.
