Hanoi hunts cyclo driver who allegedly gave joss paper back to two French tourists

The Hanoi Department of Tourism grasped the information that the visitors from France were given the change in joss paper by a cyclo driver as posted on social media Facebook on July 17.

The Hanoi Tourism Department has issued a document to communicate with Hanoi Department of Public Security, Hoan Kiem and Ba Dinh districts to verify information and handle the case.
Currently, the two tourists are visiting Sapa, according to to Chief Inspector of the Hanoi Tourism Department, Vu Cong Huy.
When they return to Hanoi, the department will meet them to take information directly, and continue to take measures to regain the trust of visitors, he added.

Earlier, on July 17, a facebooker named Huu Phuc posted on the “Ky Su Duong Pho” (Street Chronicle) group a few photographs of three joss papers and two foreign tourists and said these two visitors, a male one and a female one, came from France to Vietnam for holiday. When they arrived in Hanoi, they were offered a ride by a cyclo driver for VND600,000 (US$25.8) for an hour.
After completing the trip, the foreigner visitors paid VND1.5 million (US$64.5) to the cyclo driver. However, when returning the change, this driver repaid to two tourists three notes with the total par value of VND900,000 (US$38.7), but they were joss papers (one note having a nominal value of VND500,000 and the two others having VND200,000 each).
On the next morning, when they took the money to pay the taxi driver, they found out that they had been cheated. These two tourists canceled their trip to Ha Long and booked tickets to Sapa instead.
