Hanoi International film festival to be held in November
The fourth Hanoi International Film Festival (HANIFF), will take place from November 1-5, according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said movies made by domestic and international filmmakers will be featured at the Hanoi International Film Festival 2016 (HANIFF) which is scheduled to be organised from November 1-5.
The festival, themed “Cinema - Integration and Sustainable Development”, aims to enhance friendship and cooperation between filmmakers and guests.
This year's festival will include competitions, HANIFF campus, a film project campus, conferences and exhibitions.
Apart from a top award worth 5,000 USD presented for the best feature film, the festival also honours other cinematographic works with awards for Best short film, Best feature film director, Best actors and actresses in leading roles, Best film on urban topic and others.
The fourth HANIFF is expected to attract more attention from public and create momentum for the Vietnamese film industry.
The festival also makes opportunities to enlarge the Vietnamese film market and popularise the country’s tourism.
The third festival in 2014 featured some 130 movies from 32 countries and territories worldwide, including Vietnam’s two feature films and 12 short films.
The Russian film “Two Women” won the best feature film award. The 99-minute film “Dap Canh Giua Khong Trung” (Flapping from the Middle of Nowhere) by Vietnamese director Nguyen Hoang Diep won the special jury prize for best feature-length film.
